Childcare at Abbot

Abbot’s Childcare program is run by Ann Arbor Public Schools Recreation & Education department (http://aareced.com/reced.childcare/home).  Please call 994-2298 for more information or to enroll.

The following childcare programs are offered at Abbot:

Before School Care
This program is designed to offer care for children from 7:15 until the beginning of the school day. Activities and a morning snack are offered. See registration and fees for enrollment information.

K-Care

Although the main purpose of this Kindergarten program is to care for children during the half day in which they are not in school, it is also designed to help children meet the AAPS kindergarten outcomes to help enrich the kindergarten experience. Programs are offered mornings and afternoons depending on the school, and children may enroll in a minimum of 2 days per week. Flexible scheduling is available to accommodate changing needs. After School Care
This program starts at the end of the school day and runs until 6:00 pm. An array of activities and snack are offered. Staff also works closely with the building staff in order to help with homework and other school projects. See registration and fees for enrollment information.

Half Days and Fun Days
Half-day and fun day programs are offered to assist families with the days that school is not in session. Each school plans their own half day activities and field trips, therefore, families are responsible for checking with the site staff for information about these days. Fun days are full day care when school is out for the entire day. Care is offered from 7:15-6:00 pm. A full day of fun, often including a long distance field trip is offered. Fliers are available a month before the date of the fun-day through your participating school. Fun-day sites are few and space is limited so sign up as early possible. Mini camps
Mini camps are run all day during the mid-winter and spring breaks. See the AAPS calendar for dates. These camps offer field trips, outdoor activities and a multitude of indoor activities. Space is limited, so early registration is suggested. See registration and fees for enrollment information.
