About Abbot 
 
Abbot is a grade K-5 Title I school.  We are proud of our focus on literacy, providing a balanced curriculum for all students and our commitment to teaching the lifeskills to encourage lifelong learning.
 
Enrollment - approximately 300 students 
  • Balanced literacy takes place at all grade levels.  All teachers are trained in balanced literacy and teach guided reading groups.
  • Title One services are available for students who need academic support.
  • We have a Reading Intervention Program for students in kindergarten through second grade.
  • AK-5 grade hearing impaired class is located at this campus.
  • We provide a full continuum of services for special education students.

  • 5th grade Safety Patrol members assist staff in keeping the school safe.  They help students cross the street, monitor entrance doors, hallways and students loading on the buses.
  • A wide variety of technology is used by staff and students, including a computer lab, a wireless lab and a voice enhancement system.
  • Child care is available on a fee basis at the campus before and after school.
  • Students have the opportunity to participate as cross grade level buddies.
  • Students at all grade levels participate in multiple field trips during the year.
  • Reading Buddies are paired with children at all grade levels to offer additional reading time.
  • We have an active, supportive PTO which works with the staff to enhance the learning environment at Abbot.
  • All grade levels participate in the Nature Discovery Program at the Abbot Woods.
  • An annual Run-a-Thon takes place in the fall, providing students, families, friends and staff an opportunity to participate.
  • Parent volunteers conduct "Math Lab".  This gives students additional support with math.
